Great App

Does eveything it promises and well. Love it. Just wish it could save directly to Evernote.

Great Tool...! Great Value

Works extremely simply and smooth....does what it says and well worth every penny

Mediocre application

The good: - Fake Duplex is an excellent feature The bad: - layout and interface - changing between document feeder and flatbed is annoying especially if you have various documents to scan, and lots of them - In general, changing settings is cumbersome given how simple the are - not able to select Fake Duplex on specified pages - not enough options Please add ability to quickly change settings, i.e. one-click only. This app has great potential if the interface and settings were better designed.

Great App

This app is fantastic, works simply. It detected my HP scanner immediately and just started working. Great value and one of those apps you just need.

works great

Works great as advertised. OCR (English) on my scans are pretty consistent (just some misses). Have not tried other languages. The deskew feature is very useful (some pages remain skewed though). Deskewing landscape pages gives weird results. However in-app ability to rotate landscape pages before deskewing & then OCR-ing is also handy to avoid this issue & let me OCR all pages. Have not had occasion to try integration with scanner as I have other means and only intend to have this app OCR existing PDFs. Have not an occasion to try “fake duplex” either as Apple’s own utilities have that ability though doing it in-app has got to be more straight forward. I’m slightly puzzled by the claim of small file sizes however. The 4 files I tried started out from 4.1MB to 8.8MB (62 to 124 pages at 150dpi b&w) and after deskew & OCR became 31MB to 61MB. To get to 5 stars, my suggestion is to enable Asian character OCR as well.

Fantastic OCR

This software is great , it has a fantastic OCR capability. It is very accurate and can do large documents with ease, i bought it for invoices and reciepts in Devonthink. i can do straight from scanner ocr or directly adding your own pdf’s and then ocr them yourself. worth the 15$ !! thanks!

Exit without save

An excellent tool, with one big exception. It is just too easy to quit the program without saving the scan, it needs a pop-up box to confirm exit without save.

Good app…but

Things I love about this app: • Fake Duplex! Scan one side of a long two sided document, such as a magazine, then flip it over and scan the reverse side. Then click ‘Fake Duplex’ and the pages are neatly shuffled together in order. This feature alone was worth the price of the app for me. Things I like about this app: • Deskew - not always perfect, but can be useful at times. • Crop - does a pretty good estimation of the page’s borders. I would like to see resize handles on the crop area to make easy adjustments. As it is when I click on the selection to adjust I loose the selection and have to start from scratch. Also add a button to "Crop Selected Pages”, in addition to ‘Crop Document’, which is also a great feature. • OCR - a must have for this type of program. Things I don’t like about this app: • Very slow to save large PDFs. Make a small change to a single page and ‘Save takes forever. It would be good if the developers took a look at Apple’s Preview to see how it handles PDF saving, which seems almost instantaneous compared to PDFScanner. • Command F doesn’t do what you think it is going to do. Instead of acting as a ‘Find’, Command F does Fake Duplex Reordering. This is a bad, bad idea and should be changed immediately. • Undo Crop may be broken in the current version (1.8) I did a Crop Document and then an Undo and ended up with the first page of my document had replaced all my pages. Had to quit without saving to recover. Another reason to add Crop Selected Pages to the options.

Simple, easy to use, outstanding app

Been using the app for a month now. No issues whatsoever. Great app that is incredibly user friendly.

Best way to scan tons of documents!

The Fake Duplex for scanning both sides really is a huge time saver. Thanks!!

Absolutely Fantastic

I never write reviews…ever. But having used this app through university I felt as if some thanks were in order. I bought this wayyy back when I needed to “fake duplex” my assignments before I handed them in (incase they were lost in the dropbox). Anyway my use has expanded such that this is my go to scanning app. It does exactly what you need it to intuitively and quickly. I would buy again a thousand times over.

Essential Utility

It is so quick and easy to scan documents into PDFs with searchable text (OCR)—I particularly like how you just keep scanning and the pages all go into the same document when saved. One of the few utilies I keep in my Dock.

Perfect!

Literally does everything it says it will. And does it better than expected. Used its OCR to make old scanned .pdfs highlightable and it worked perfectly, handling a document with hundreds of pages without a problem. Compared to what else is out there the price is also more than reasonable.

Excellent Scan Utility

I use it all the time. The only two things I wish it could do are: 1. scan right to an email attachment and 2. allow a selection of the scan source (flatbed or document feeder) right from the main window… button on the botttom? Other than that it is excellent! dave

Good but..

Clean, but if the orintation of the page is upside down the program doesn’t recongize the text. Very difficult for scanning text book I need to use ABBYY finereader to rescan the pdfs..

Fake duplex is great!

This feature alone justifies buying the app! Saves tons of time when you scan a double-sided document with an ADF; just have to scan, flip the stack, scan again and that’s it! Of course other features work great too. Very satisfied!

Handy App and good tech support- works with automator

Update: - I discoverdd that you can use this app with Automator by creating workflows. I’ve created 3 workflows. - I scan my documents in at 600 dpi grayscale. I scan it at a high dpi to reduce OCR errors, therein improving recognition of text. - Once all my scans are in, I put them in a folder and run it through my first workflow. - The first Automator workflow I created compiles all the images into a PDF. - The second Automator workflow runs the PDF through PDFScanenr, and OCR’s the text - The third Automator workflow compresses the jpeg images in the PDF document, thus reducing the size of the PDF to about half The benefit of using Automator workflow with this application is that everything is completed at a much faster rate. I would say in half of the time it woudl normally take me. ---- SImply the best app for converting images to PDF. It’s quick, easy to use and very functional. Well worth the price. I hope they make a universal iOS version. I like the fact the developer replies to support issues directly. Worth the price.
